About the project
MICAM Milano is the international event promoted by the trade association of Italian footwear manufacturers, Assocalzaturifici, and takes place annually at the Rho Fiera exhibition centre. The event is exclusively dedicated to professionals in the shoes manufacturing sector and always takes place at the gates of Milan Fashion Week. The product sectors covered by MICAM are divided into areas: Luxury, with high-end products; Contemporary; I-Kids; Everyday; Cosmopolitan; Players District; Special footwear (work or safety footwear); Accessories for shops and Sector Press.
On the occasion of the February edition (16/19.02.2020), the protagonist of the event is once again the area dedicated to Emerging Designers, where 12 young creative talents were able to exhibit with their autumn/winter 2020/2021 collections. As for the previous editions 2018 and 2019, also in 2020 the project was realized in collaboration with Honegger, who was in charge of the research of the designers, the organization of the selection day, the realization of the exhibition design and the communication project. Fundamental was the creation of a space where the 12 shoe designers would have a similar but different environment, able to create a feeling of continuity through arched portals and walls with mirrored bands.
The selection of young emerging talents was made by a jury of experts in the fashion and communication sector, chaired by the designer Ernesto Esposito. The proposal of the finalists ranges from pop quotes to research around the most classic forms, from metropolitan atmospheres to the rediscovery - increasingly present today - of the eco and green world connected to fashion.
